I felt the lecture was very informative. As the topics that we discussed were somewhere forgotten.
It raised a lot of questions in my mind regarding the word 'ornamentation' . It's a word that carries several meanings. These various meaning are connected to personal choices that we all make. The article very clearly displayed that the writer felt 'ornamentation' is absolutely unnecessary. Well, coming to what I felt about 'ornamentation', I think it's important because ornamentation comes in when one adds a little more flavor to an ordinary object. where as, some might feel that the 'ordinary' could be a form of 'ornamentation'. It's interesting to see that different people have different ways of displaying their understanding about 'ornamentation'. It's something that continuously changes with time. I feel this because, people's tastes do not often stay permanent, so that's what brings change to this word 'ornamentation'.
Talking about arts that have influenced India, clearly showed how easily overtime we have in corp-orated them into our traditional colors and forms. which is a very interesting aspect to look into because the type of cloth we get today has a lot of history behind it.
I think cloth plays an important role in bringing out different cultures, which are brought out through patterns and colors. Specially in a country like India, which is culturally rich. It is something to question about, as to where did these patterns originate from? It is a mysterious and an interesting subject.
